Hey world, we’re back again and today we’ve got the hilarious Brent Crawford answering a few questions for you and taking things very seriously. Get a peek into his brain before you get to meet him in less than a week at TeenBookCon!
TeenBookCon: Was it easy for you to get into the voice of a 14-year-old guy when writing Carter Finally Gets It?
Brent Crawford: I don't understand the question... this feels lame... Pass!
TBC: What jeans are you wearing right now and can you tell us a little more about your jeans obsession?
BC: I am wearing a pair a "Jean Shop" -Rocker fit- jeans made of Selvage denim, milled in Japan, constructed in LA and sold in Meat Packing District of NYC.
You see, in pursuit of dreams, artists have to have "Joe Jobs" or "Bread Jobs." Most writer/actors work at restaurants so they don't starve to death, but for some reason I started working in fashion (talk about starving people) first for Ralph Lauren and then the Jean Shop... I accidently became a jean whore.
I'm not a denim psycho though. I wash my jeans about once a year (or whenever my wife starts really complaining)... A true denim psycho would never wash their jeans!
TBC: What are your top three "Books to have if stranded on a desert island"?
BC: #1) The Complete Works of Shakespeare... because I could read that junk a hundred times and still get things out of it... and when I'm rescued (or my body is found) I want them to think I am (or was) smart.
#2) Some sort of survival guide would be nice and then I'd take the Twilight Series (one of the ones with pictures please!) so I could finally read it and no one would judge me and I could have good cry and figure out if I'm in camp Edward (which I think I am) or Jacob.
TBC: Do you have any upcoming book projects you can tell us about?
BC: I'm pitching an idea as we speak! It's called Punk-Dragon, and it's about a guy who finds out he shares DNA with Dragons. He discovers this fact when he lights a fart on fire and blows up an apartment building... sadly, I'm not kidding.
TBC: Uh, wow! That one is already on the mental to-be-read list! So Brent, thanks a bunch for sharing your thoughts on a few subjects for our readers. Surely they are as excited as we are to hear more from you at TeenBookCon!
Brent Crawford is the author of Carter Finally Gets It and Carter's Big Break. Find him on Twitter.
