Guest review--Living Dead Girl by Elizabeth Scott

“Once upon a time there was a little girl…”

Fifteen year old Alice has been “dead” since she was ten; dead to her friends, dead to her family and dead to herself. Alice is not even her real name. She lives with her captor, Ray, in a small apartment only four hours away from the people who love her. Ray controls what she wears, what she eats and who she is. Alice must do whatever it takes to please Ray and succumb to his demands. However, his “little girl” is growing up and when Ray decides to abduct another, much younger girl, he needs Alice’s help. But Alice has other ideas and devises a plan that could help her escape her living nightmare.

The book is a quick read with short chapters. I could not put it down and finished it in a few hours! The sheer terror and sexual/emotional abuse that Alice must live with on a daily basis is unforgettable.  Even the simple act of her eating a candy bar brings the reader to the edge of his/her seat. If you enjoy reading realistic fiction that deals with the darkest corners of life, you will want to read this book. The haunting images and powerful emotions will stick with you long after you finished reading.
